1949 Successful domestic production of the pigment intermediate Tobias acid.
1952 Organized as a joint stock company(Sugai Chemical Ind.Co.,Ltd.,) with Sugai Takeo as President and a capitalization of 3 million yen.
1955 Received administrator award from the Small and Medium Enterprises Agency.
1958 Received subsidy from the Science and Technology Agency for experimental research expenses for discovery and applications related to new methods of use for creosote resin.
1961 New factory built in Minato, Wakayama City. Named Wakayama Nishi Factory operations begun with production of oxalacetic acid diethyl ester sodium salt.
1962 1962 "Sugai" in Japanese company name changed from Chinese to katakana characters."Sugai" in Japanese company name changed from Chinese to katakana characters.
1963 Listed on the 2nd section of the Osaka Stock Exchange. Senior Managing Director Yasuo Sugai appointed President.
1968 Construction of a new research laboratory in Uzu,Wakayama City Start of computerized information processing.
1972 Stert of Nishihama Product Center(currently Sugai System Service Co.,Ltd.).
1973 Biral project team inaugurated.
1977 25th anniversary celebration.
1981 Automatic surveying of waste water treatment facility for Wakayama Nishi Factory.
1982 President Yasuo Sugai appointed Chairman, Vice President Masataka Dehara appointed President.
1983 Overseas office established in New York.
1985 Sugaichemie Inc.,Ltd. founded.
1988 Vice President Hiroshi Sugai appointed President.
1990 Capitalization of 2.51 billion yen through capital increase by new shares at market price.
1991 1991 New factory built in Ishibashi-cho,Fukui City, named Fukui Factory.New factory built in Ishibashi-cho,Fukui City, named Fukui Factory.
1992 Operations begun at Fukui Factory. New York overseas office incorporated as Sugai America Inc.
1996 1996 Pharmaceutical intermediates Factory(F-2 factory)completed in Fukui Factory.Pharmaceutical intermediates Factory(F-2 factory)completed in Fukui Factory.
1997 1997 Fukui Factory inspected by the FDA of the United States government. Favorably evaluated for carrying out production of pharmaceutical intermediates in compliance with GMP. 2002 Managing Director Masayoshi Jinta appointed President.
2003 Wakayama Factory and Wakayama Nishi Factory integrated into Wakayama Site.
Fukui Factory changed to become Fukui Site.
Director Masaji Nagaoka appointed President.
ISO 9001-2000(transfer) certification acquired.
2008 1997 Fukui Factory inspected by the FDA of the United States government. Favorably evaluated for carrying out production of pharmaceutical intermediates in compliance with GMP. Completion at Fukui Factory of pilot plant specializied in pharmaceutical intermediates. Pharmaceutical intermediates factory (F2-B Factory) completed in Fukui Site.
2009 Completion of warehouse for the general chemical at Fukui Site.
2010 Reassessment for ISO9001-2008.
Selected as one of 100 Kansai Active Manufacturer.
Inspection for the GMP compliance at Fukui site was performed by Fukui
Prefecture´╝îand conformance was issued.
2012 Capital improvement for production of active pharmaceutical ingredient was made at Fukui Site.
2013 Fukui Site has obtained an approval and license for manufacturer of drug.
Listed on the 2nd section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange by the consolidation of Osaka and Tokyo Stock Exchange.
2014 Completion of outside storage facility for dangerous products at Wakayama Site.
2015 Executive Director Haruo Takeda was appointed President.
2016 Made a transition to “Company with Audit and Supervisory Committee”.
Wakayama Site, Fukui Site and Fukui Research Institute acquired ISO 14001-2015 certification.
2017 Fukui Site made the transition to use environment-friendly fuel LNG (liquefied natural gas).
